Inter will face group-leaders Real Sociedad in the final match of the 2023-2024 UEFA Champions League group stage on Tuesday, December 12.
Coming off a massive 4-0 Serie A win over Udinese, Inter will look to continue their hot form to take them to a first place finish in Group D with a win over Real Sociedad. Currently, the teams share a record in the group, with 3 wins and 2 draws each. Real Sociedad currently sit first due to a better goal difference- having only conceded twice in 5 matches. Both teams have already secured qualification to the Champions League round of 16, but this match will determine who finishes first and who finishes second.
Real Sociedad are doing well in La Liga, sitting in 7th place with 8 wins, 5 draws and 3 losses. In their previous match, Sociedad recorded a convincing 3-0 win over Villarreal. Goal contributions came from the usual suspects this season, star forward Takefusa Kubo saw a goal and an assist, Mikel Merino also with a goal and assist and Martín Zubimendi with a goal. Inter and Sociedad’s previous matchup in the Champions League was a difficult match for Inter, as the guests found it difficult to cope with the atmosphere and high press from the Spaniards. Hopefully with the crowd of the Giuseppe Meazza behind them, the Nerazzurri will feel more comfortable and be able to play their way.
According to SkySport Italy, Inter is predicted to line up as follows (3-5-2): Sommer; Darmian, Acerbi, Carlos Augusto; Cuadrado, Frattesi, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Alexis Sánchez, Thuram. Stefan de Vrij, Denzel Dumfries and Benjamin Pavard have all been ruled out through injury.
According to UEFA.com, Real Sociedad is predicted to line up as follows (4-3-3): Remiro; Traoré, Zubeldia, Le Normand, Muñoz; Zakharyan, Zubimendi, Merino; Kubo, Sadiq, Oyarzabal. Martín Merquelanz, Ander Barrenetxea, Mohamed-Ali Cho and Brais Méndez have all been ruled out through injury.
Inter-Real Sociedad is set to kick-off on Tuesday, December 12 at 21:00 CET / 15:00 EST.
