Inter travel to the capital to take on Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio in round 16 of the 2023/24 Serie A season.

Despite advancing to the UEFA Champions League round of 16, finishing second behind Atlético Madrid, Lazio currently find themselves 11th in Serie A. Star forward Ciro Immobile has expedited a difficult start to the season, having scored only 4 goals in 14 appearances, 3 of which have been penalties. Immobile is Lazio’s top goalscorer this season, so it is evident that Sarri’s men are experiencing difficulties on attack.

Lazio have been Inter’s ‘bogey’ team as of late- always proving to be a difficult match, especially at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Inter will want to ensure they come away with all 3 points, as Scudetto rivals Juventus dropped precious points against Genoa on Friday, December 15, drawing 1-1. Inter have the opportunity to go 4 points clear of Juventus at the top of the table.

Ahead of a Coppa Italia week, Inter are not predicted to make any major rotations- even while dealing with several injuries. According to SkySport Italy, Inter is predicted to line up as follows (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan; Thuram, Lautaro. While Benjamin Pavard has returned from injury and will be available on the bench, Denzel Dumfries, Stefan de Vrij, Juan Cuadrado and Alexis Sánchez are all ruled out.

According to SkySport Italy, Lazio is predicted to line up as follows (4-3-3): Provodel; Lazzari, Casale, Patric, Marušić; Guendouzi, Rovella, Luis Alberto; Felipe Anderson, Immobile, Zaccagni. Gustav Isaksen has been ruled out due to injury.

Lazio-Inter is set to kick off on Sunday, December 17 at 20:45 CET / 14:45 EST.
