Stefano Sensi could be set to leave Inter this January with Leicester City FC interested, according to SkySport transfer expert, Gianluca Di Marzio.

Leicester City FC, 2015-16 Premier League champions recently relegated to the Championship, have set their sights on Inter’s Italian midfielder, Stefano Sensi. Leicester is currently in first place in the Championship, 10 points ahead of second-placed Ipswich Town, intending to return to the Premier League next season.

Italian manager and former Manchester City assistant-manager, Enzo Maresca, is reportedly fond of the midfielder and there have already been initial contacts between Leicester and Inter- with no official offer being presented yet. Leicester is working on convincing Sensi to make the switch on a permanent deal ahead of presenting an offer. Additionally, Leicester must make room for the 28-year-old and is, ‘ready to sell’ former Sampdoria and Torino midfielder, Dennis Praet.

Stefano Sensi had an incredible start to his Inter career after signing on an initial loan deal with the option to buy worth €25M in 2020. Following dazzling performances, including one many Interisti will remember against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League during the 2019/20 season, Sensi struggled with constant injuries. After loan spells to Sampdoria and Monza, Sensi remained at Inter this season and has only made four appearances (one in the Coppa Italia), most often in the closing minutes of the match- reaching a total of 28 minutes in Serie A.

With just 6 months left on his contract, expiring in June 2024, Stefano Sensi’s journey with Inter is coming to an end: whether in January by joining Leicester City, or by departing the club as a free agent in the summer.
