Inter’s 18-year-old loanee, Valentín Carboni, is expected to return to the club in the summer following a loan spell with Monza and remain a part of the first team.

Valentín Carboni is one of Serie A and Argentina’s brightest talents, and according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, should be part of Inter’s first-team squad next season. The Buenos Aires native has enjoyed a strong debut season in Serie A with Monza, scoring 2 goals and registering 3 assists in 13 Serie A appearances, 4 of which were starts, accumulating just 430 minutes.

Carboni made his Serie A debut in 2022 with Inter and was regularly on the bench throughout the season, making 5 total appearances- but only 21 minutes of action. The teenager was sent out on loan to Monza for the 2023-2024 season and after initially struggling to find space, has finally begun to pick up form and feature regularly for Rafaele Palladino’s side.

With Inter’s backup forwards struggling to find the net this season, the question has already begun to arise about what to do for next year. With Alexis Sánchez having a contract expiring in June, it is all but confirmed that Iran forward, Mehdi Taremi will numerically replace the Chilean in Inter’s squad. It remains to be determined what will happen with Marko Arnautović, but Inter will have at least one other option off the bench in the form of Valentín Carboni.

Carboni will bring elements to Inter’s squad that have been lacking for some time. A quick dribbler, able to operate in tight spaces and find the pockets in the final third. Technically, Valentín is very gifted and while he does not have the pace to beat his man, his intelligence and football IQ are as good a tool as any. Additionally, he is quite versatile. Carboni’s main position is as an attacking midfielder. While traditional “number 10” players seem to be a dying breed, he has also featured as a second striker and even at right wing this season.
