Following Inter’s superb 5-1 victory on the road against Monza in match-week 20 of the 2023/24 Serie A season, Sky Italia pundit and Nerazzurri legend Beppe Bergomi provided his analysis of the fixture, whilst criticizing former Bologna marksman Marko Arnautovic.
A ruthless and clinical display at the U-Power Stadium enabled the Nerrazzurri to extend their fine run of form to four wins and one draw in their last five outings in the Serie A, as well as prolonging their dominance away from home as they have yet to lose a single fixture within their opposition’s home-stopping ground, accumulating a total eight wins and two losses away from home thus far.
Currently, Inter sit at the summit of the league with a total of 51 points, four points ahead of Juventus who have a game in-hand as they are set to face Sassuolo Tuesday evening.
In addition, the Beneamata also maintain their status as the best offensive team as they have scored a total of 49 goals in 20 games-played.
Following the vital win, as per FcInterNews, Bergomi provided his analysis of the fixture and expressed his concern of Marko Arnautovic’s dry run of form as the Austrian veteran has amassed a single goal and two assists since his arrival from Bologna six months ago:
“Lautaro is having an extraordinary season, Thuram is also playing very well for the team, it is difficult for the other strikers to perform in certain matches. I certainly expected something more from Arnautovic, but he was out of action for two months. But, now there is the Super Cup and Inter have a difficult calendar.
“There will always be a catch-up match which will be against Atalanta, who will be stuck in a very full week. Inzaghi goes to play Fiorentina, then Juve and then the cup begins. This is why Inter must have all their players in place at that moment. In midfield he has important rotations, but up front he changes when the starters aren’t there.”
