Inter will take on Genoa at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Monday, March 4, 2024, in Serie A.

Five days after another excellent performance against Atalanta, Simone Inzaghi’s side is in the best form the fans have seen in a long time. After winning the last three Serie A games 4-0 each, Inter are looking to continue the excellent form in Matchday 27’s final game. In fact, the Nerazzurri have won every single game (11) ever since their last meeting with Genoa back in December, where Inter drew 1-1 away. Therefore, Inter have the chance to redeem themselves after a rather disappointing performance at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris towards the end of 2023. Looking back, the history of this matchup over the last five years is very one sided. Inter have not lost a game in that period, drawing two games and winning six. On top of that, Inter have only conceded one goal at home, scored by Hellas Verona, throughout the whole of 2024. The fans attending the game at the Meazza tomorrow will be hoping for another solid performance as well as another clean sheet.

Genoa have been on a strong run to start off this year, most recently beating Udinese at home by two goals to nil last Saturday. The Rossoblù have proven their strength over the last eleven games, drawing 1-1 against four of Serie A’s strongest sides, namely Bologna, Inter, Napoli and Juventus and only losing once, when they were defeated by Atalanta about one month ago. Looking at their current position in the Serie A table, they comfortably sit 10 points clear of the relegation spots, but also currently too far away from challenging for any European spots, being 9 points behind 7th placed Fiorentina. However, after being promoted back to Italy’s top flight this season, their fans will be more than happy not having to worry about a relegation fight. Genoa’s main man upfront, Albert Gudmundsson, is sitting at 9 goals this season already, with strike partner Mateo Retegui finding his feet again throughout the last few games too.

According to SkySport Italy, Inter is expected to line up as follows (3-5-2): Sommer; Pavard, de Vrij, Carlos Augusto; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Alexis Sánchez, Lautaro Martínez. Marcus Thuram, Davide Frattesi and Francesco Acerbi have returned to group training, all three could make the bench. Juan Cuadrado, Stefano Sensi and Hakan Çalhanoğlu are all still missing due to injury, Alessandro Bastoni is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season during the last game.

According to SkySport Italy, Genoa is expected to line up as follows (3-5-2): Martínez; De Winter, Bani, Vásquez; Sabelli, Junior Messias, Badelj, Frendrup, Martín; Gudmundsson, Retegui.
