Inter are going to host last season’s champions Napoli at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday, March 17, 2024, in Serie A.

After a disappointing night at the Estádio Cívitas Metropolitano on Wednesday, where Inter were eliminated from this season’s UEFA Champions League by Atlético Madrid, regular league action awaits again. With the game in Spain going all the way to extra time and penalties, there will definitely be some tired legs among the players, as well as some much needed rotation. Simone Inzaghi’s side is looking to further close in on the Scudetto, with only ten matchdays to go in Serie A. Looking back at the last encounters, the Nerazzurri won three out of the last four meetings with Napoli, with the last home game dating back to January 4, 2023, which Inter won 1-0. The most recent meeting was also a 1-0 win back in January, in the final of the Supercoppa. Lautaro Martínez secured the title with a goal in stoppage time.

Napoli, just like Inter, also crashed out of the Champions League, losing away to Barcelona. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Naples, they ended up losing 1-3 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, eliminating their last chance of a title this season. However, their league form has slightly improved over the last few weeks, despite their last result being a 1-1 draw against Torino at home. Over the last three weeks, the reigning champions managed to defeat Juventus and Sassuolo, with Kvicha Kvaratskhelia finding his form again in these games. The winger scored four goals and provided one assist in his last three league matches, despite rumours about a possible departure away from Napoli going around. A big name that will not start tomorrow is Victor Osimhen, who will only be on the bench after suffering from muscle fatigue. In the Serie A table, Napoli are back in the race for European spots, closing in on Atalanta, currently in 6th place.

According to SkySport Italy, Inter is expected to line up as follows (3-5-2): Sommer; Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni; Darmian, Barella, Çalhanoğlu, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Thuram, Lautaro Martínez. Juan Cuadrado, Marko Arnautović, Carlos Augusto and Stefano Sensi are all out due to injury and will miss the match.

According to SkySport Italy, Napoli is expected to line up as follows (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Juan Jesus, Olivera; Anguissa, Lobotka, Traorè; Politano, Raspadori, Kvaratskhelia.

Inter-Napoli is set to kick off at 20:45 CET / 15:45 EST on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
